Fully-3D-Printable Wallet

Designed and iterated a fully printable wallet that can hold six cards on default and a clip for cash and even more cards. Made this design for personal use inspired by several accidents of losing my purse.

Industrial Exoskeleton to Protect Warehouse Worker Health

Modified an existing design of suitX’s BackX product, an active trunk-support exoskeleton for workers for heavy weightlifting
- Led the design of a one-actuator system to replace the current two-actuator system to reduce weight and cost.
- Applied SolidWorks to build complex parts for an assembly and applied GD&T in drawings for manufacturing.
- Leading prototyping, testing, and development of motor control with C++.

Upper Limbs Passive Supportive Exoskeleton

Designed upper limb assist devices for SMA patients to help them perform normal activities and do some weightlifting in daily life

- Led the review on previous research and patents by consulting related literature, articles, and online resources.
- Constructed a workable mechanical structure for developing a design specification that can fully meet user needs.
- Led the design of a conceptual model using SolidWorks and performed simulation with Opensim to check the feasibility of the overall design.
- Led the modification of our design, assembled the parts, and actualized prototyping.

Matlab CAD Modeling

Designed and used Matlab (coding only) to model a gas mask using curved surfaces. In the process, I learned about the math behind Bezier, B-spine, and NRBS curves and how to use these curves to construct ruled surfaces to create 3D models through coding. The gas mask was 3D printed at the end of the courses.

Senior Design Team Object

Designed and built a team object for the senior design team to represent team identity. The model has several moving parts and can be disassembled.

Two Stage Gear Reducer

Designed a gearbox that can run more than 10^6 cycles from the perspective of material and force
- Utilized EES to perform force analysis on shafts, gear teeth, and bearings in gearboxes.
- Contributed to programming with EES and identified the optimal parameters of the remaining gears, shafts, and bearings based on dimensions of one of the gears and the motor by combining the results obtained in the force analysis with the programs written in EES.
- Applied SolidWorks to build a model, produced engineering drawings and wrote final project reports.

Mini Wind Turbine

Designed a scaled-down wind turbine to test its efficiency in terms of power conversion
- Modeled the wind turbine fan blade in Solidworks.
- Built a physical model with 3D printing. Assembled the wind turbine.

Wooden Fork

Designed and made a wooden fork used for fruits or chocolate bites. The fork was entirely hand-crafted without any machining.

Wooden Rings

Designed and made several wooden rings as a hobby and sold for profit. These rings are all entirely hand-crafted without any machining.
